CHEMTREAT 649 is a free flowing blend of catalysed sodium sulphite formulated to scavenge oxygen from:
(a) Boiler feed water
(b) Pipes and vessels during hydrostatic testing.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
For dosing to boilers, CHEMTREAT 649 should be dissolved in water for dosing. CHEMTREAT 649 solution strengths of up to 10% w/v are practical. The CHEMTREAT 649 solutions may be slug dosed or continuously dosed direct into the boiler. Where feed line and/or economiser corrosion is a problem, CHEMTREAT 649 solutions should be continuously dosed into the feed line.
CHEMTREAT 649 will actively scavenge oxygen from the air and only sufficient solution for one or two days use should be prepared. Avoid air agitation to dissolve CHEMTREAT 649.
Add sufficient CHEMTREAT 649 to achieve a residual sulphite level in the boiler. Allow sufficient residual to provide margin for steam load fluctuations, water temperature changes, and variation in condensate return rates.
CHEMTREAT 649 is not a complete boiler treatment and it should be used in conjunction with other boiler water conditioning treatment available from Challenge Chemicals Aust.
HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE TESTING:
For hydrostatic pressure testing of vessels and pipes, add 200ppm (200gm/1000lt) CHEMTREAT 649 to test water. CHEMTREAT 649 can be added and dissolved in batch tank type operations or injected continuously whilst filling is done from a mains source.
Avoid excessive skin contact. Avoid eye contact.
If poisoning occurs contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. PH 13 11 26. If swallowed do not induce vomiting, give a glass of water and seek medical advice. If skin contact does occur remove contaminated clothing and wash thoroughly with water. For eye contact, irrigate with water for 15 minutes and if irritation persists seek medical advice.
CHEMTREAT 649 is available in 25 kg containers.
