Understanding New GHS Chemical Symbols & Warnings

We  will examine the new GHS symbols associated with hazardous chemicals and what they mean.

Below are  GHS symbols you will be exposed to in our range of concentrate and RTU (Ready to Use) cleaning solutions.

Corrosives

Corrosive chemicals, may cause severe skin and eye damage and may be corrosive to metals.
With incorrect use of corrosive substances there is the possibility of severe damage to living tissue.

Flammable

Flammable liquids. Substances labelled as flammable liquids are likely to catch fire easily, or with incorrect handling or usage may explode.

Oxidising

Oxidising liquids and solids may cause or intensify fires.
These substances can react with combustible material, such as paper or sawdust, so particular care needs to be taken when containing or cleaning up a spill

Health Hazard

These products can cause chronic health hazards; this includes aspiratory and respiratory hazards, carcinogenicity, mutagenicity and reproductive toxicity.

Irritant

Low level toxicity. This includes respiratory, skin, and eye irritation, skin sensitisers and chemicals harmful if swallowed, inhaled or in contact with skin

Environment

Hazardous to aquatic life and the environment.
